The serigraphic process remains a solid printing technique by which ink is forced through a number of screen meshes onto the material beneath. Stretched over a frame, areas of the various screens – commonly nylon or polyester – are blocked with a stencil, then the screens themselves are laid on top of the material and ink is applied over them. There’s great flexibility in the number of screens employed while squeegees uniformly spread the ink over the whole surface.

This decal consists usually of transparent polycarbonate or polyester – and it is this layered structure that allows it to remain intact while being transferred onto the target surface.
